Vientiane, Laos – Officials and experts from Laos, Vietnam and South Korea convened in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on Thursday to finalise the results of a study which began in 2015.
The proposed railway would run for 555 kilometres from the capital of the landlocked country and terminate at Vung Ang Seaport in Vietnam.
The feasibility study recommended the railway to operate at a speed of 150 kph.
The study was conducted with a $3 million grant from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The goal of the study is to prepare a master plan and provide capacity building to the railway sectors of both Laos and Vietnam.
