The MTR Corporation signed a Project Agreement with the HKSAR Government today (19 September 2024) for the financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Hung Shui Kiu Station (HSK) on the Tuen Ma Line. This project involves constructing a new station on an operating railway viaduct, marking it as the first of its kind in Hong Kong.
Dr Jacob Kam, Chief Executive Officer of MTR Corporation, stated, “The Corporation fully supports and coordinates with the Government for the development of the public transport system with the railway as the backbone. Upon completion, HSK will further enhance railway network connectivity and unleash new development potential in the area.”
HSK will be located between Tin Shui Wai Station and Siu Hong Station, serving the future Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area and nearby residents. The Corporation aims to minimize impact on normal Tuen Ma Line services through careful planning, rigorous procedures, and innovative technologies.
This project is part of MTR’s broader commitment to support Hong Kong’s overall development strategy. It joins other ongoing projects such as the Tung Chung Line Extension, Oyster Bay Station, Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line, and the Tuen Mun South Extension, all aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and strengthening Hong Kong’s competitiveness.
The HSK project will be funded through the “Rail plus Property” development model. Construction will commence after concluding the tendering for the major works contract, with a target completion in 2030.
