Singapore’s Land Transport Authority has reported continued strong rail reliability performance for October 2025, while announcing a new digital platform to improve incident communication with commuters.
The MRT network’s 12-month moving average Mean Kilometres Between Failure reached 1,673,000 train-km as of end-October, up slightly from 1,671,000 train-km the previous month. Most lines showed MKBF improvements, with only the Circle Line recording a marginal decline. The network recorded zero delays exceeding 30 minutes during October, an improvement from two such incidents in September.
The Thomson-East Coast Line data has been added to the authority’s reporting framework for the first time. While TEL’s Train Service Delivery and Train Punctuality indicators remain high, performance trails other lines due to ongoing construction and extension work. Three delays over 30 minutes occurred on the TEL over the past year, impacting an estimated 5% of daily passengers. LTA expects performance to stabilise following the line’s full opening in 2026.
In response to commuter feedback about incident communication, LTA is introducing a centralised real-time status webpage at mytransport.sg/trainstatus, launching 13 December at 6pm. The platform will categorise service disruptions using a colour-coded system: yellow for minor delays under 30 minutes where train service remains usable, and orange for major delays exceeding 30 minutes requiring alternative transport arrangements.
The approach mirrors practices in London and Paris metro systems. LTA is also collaborating with Google Maps to integrate source data for improved journey time estimates during incidents, with further tools in development to provide journey-specific information to commuters.
