A joint venture of MTR Corporation and Gamuda has been awarded the Parramatta Integrated Station Development contract on the Sydney Metro West line in New South Wales.
The Riverside Link Consortium is made up of MTR Corporation (Australia), Gamuda Engineering Australia and Gamuda (Australia). It will design and build the future Parramatta metro station and develop the buildings above and next to it. The development will include office, retail and residential space, delivered in phases after the railway opens.
Parramatta station is due to open in 2032. Journeys from there to the Sydney CBD will then take around 20 minutes. Gamuda Engineering Australia will lead the station’s design and construction.
David Tang, Managing Director – Property and International Business at MTR Corporation, said: “The project provides an opportunity for MTR to apply our experience in integrating transport infrastructure with residential, commercial and community development opportunities to create well-connected, vibrant and people-focused urban precincts.”
Ewan Yee, CEO of Gamuda Engineering Australia, said: “This is more than just another station award, it’s the first time all three partners have joined forces on one integrated transport-oriented development for Parramatta.”
Gamuda Engineering Australia also delivered the Western Tunnelling Package on Sydney Metro West.
MTR already has a significant presence in Sydney. Its subsidiary Metro Trains Sydney has run Sydney Metro Northwest since 2019. It supported the 2024 opening of the City section, now the Metro M1 Northwest and Bankstown Line. A joint venture of MTR and a CRRC subsidiary also holds the Sydney Metro West trains, systems, operations and maintenance contract. That contract covers 15 years of operations from the line’s opening in 2032.
